Texas Speed is one of very few companies that is able to test and properly develop Gen 5 LT camshafts using the camshaft phaser. We use our in-house SuperFlow 902 engine dyno to test every camshaft that we develop on our in-house CNC camshaft grinders! We are the ONLY company that can grind a new cam and be testing it on the engine dyno 30 minutes later! You get PROVEN camshafts with PROVEN results because we can try so many different camshafts to find the correct ones that make the best power for your application. There's more to cam development than simply picking some lobes out of a book!
The +32% fuel lobes are recommended for any setup that is running a power-adder. The +32% fuel lobe does require a lash cap with it, so make sure it is installed during the camshaft installation! You can include the lash cap in the appropriate drop-down menu if you are purchasing a +32% fuel lobe camshaft. WE DO NOT CHARGE EXTRA FOR THE +32% FUEL LOBE!
The TSP Gen 5 camshafts are custom designed for applications where the AFM lifters are being removed. By removing the AFM lifters, we are able to run lobes that offer better power and performance. You will have to purchase our TSP DOD Delete Kit for any of our LT1 cams, which can be found using part # 25-LT1DODDEL-KIT.
All TSP Gen 5 camshafts require the use of the Comp Cams Phaser kit, which is included in Gen 5 Cam Package. We do recommend replacing the factory trunion in your GM rocker arms with the Comp Cams trunion upgrade kit!
Each Gen 5 camshaft Texas Speed offers will require the use of a Comp Cams Phaser limiter kit. The phaser limiter restricts the range of cam timing movement to 20°. This modification provides the necessary valve clearance for serious performance camshafts with tighter lobe separations while still utilizing the benefits of the VVT technology.
All of our TSP LT1 camshafts were designed on our SuperFlow 902 engine dyno using an otherwise stock 6.2L LT1 engine. We design and test many different camshafts before selecting the camshafts that we offer to our customers. This provides us with a distinct advantage of offering the best power curve possible without sacrificing overall performance, as well as knowing that what we offer is also safe and will not have any piston-to-valve clearance issues. We test our products before we sell them, so you KNOW that you are purchasing a camshaft that is proven!
We do offer the Katech AFM delete valley cover available here (https://southwestspeed.net/products/katech-gen-5-lt4-afm-delete-valley-cover) for those customers that prefer to replace the cover instead of using our DOD delete plugs that install in the DOD stacks in the valley of the block. You can select the optional cover in the drop-down menus below.
